In the Garden: Hydroponic Gardening

When you were a kid, did you put plant clippings into a glass of water so that you could watch the roots develop? If so, you were actually experimenting with hydroponic gardening and most likely didn't even know it!

Hydroponics is a form of soilless agriculture where plant roots grow in nutrient-enriched water which has its roots in ancient history. Some believe that as far back as 600 B.C., gardeners at the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the seven wonders of the world, may have employed hydroponic principles.

Today, we find this ancient method resurfacing as a gardening trend found in kits made from mason jars to up-cycled wine bottles. They are incredibly low maintenance and also double as decor around your home!
